Travelling by Plane During Pregnancy

It is absolutely safe to fly during the first and second trimesters if you do not have any complications in pregnancy. This is the time to enjoy your own time as you will have to carry baby essentials in the coming few years with you every time.

Medical problems should be checked by a doctor and an assurance for flying safety is better in case you have doubts.

High blood pressure, spotting, diabetes, morning sickness, previous early birth, or previous miscarriage can be the conditions to consider before you opt for flying in pregnancy. As far as the third trimester is concerned, you may still need to be checked by a doctor if your condition is suitable for travelling by plane.

Normally, pregnant women can fly safely until the 36 weeks of pregnancy although a confirming letter for your due date from the doctor is required from 28th week.

Also, pregnant women are really concerned about having to pass through the scanners at the airport as they may harm the baby. It is to be known that those scanners are generally safe and does not cause any harm to you or the baby.

The pressure in the plane is also not known to cause any harm in pregnancy but it is still better to avoid small planes as your body may have to work harder to supply you and your baby with oxygen without cabin pressure at high altitudes.

Use of Henna In Pregnancy

Only natural henna that us derived from the plant is safe to use in pregnancy. It can actually be an alternative for the chemical hair dyes in pregnancy.

Natural henna comes in different shades which can be applied on skin and hair. Black henna should be avoided as it can cause allergic reactions because of the dye contained in it.

So, it is important to check the label before using henna products to make sure what it contains. Do not use the product if you are unsure if the product is natural or not.

Also, ask for help if applying henna is a task for you in pregnancy as bending over can make you dizzy.

Use of Air Fresheners

Air fresheners and aerosols should be avoided during pregnancy as they contain volatile chemicals which may harm your baby if used in routine.

Other cleaning products should also be used wuth precaution to keep safe. It should be noted that volatile organic compounds can be build up when the aerosols are used indoor and can cause nausea, diarrhea, and headaches.

The room should be ventilated if you are using such products and hands should be covered with gloves when using cleaning products.

Also, an aerosol deodorant should be replaced with a roll on to be safe. Exposure to chemicals is never good for you and your baby’s health and therefore should be avoided at all costs.

Chemical Straightening Treatments

The use of chemicals during pregnancy cannot be said muh about as some cab be safe while others are not.

However, only a small amount of chemicals will be soaked into the scalp and may not cause much harm to you or your baby, it is still recommended to avoid using such treatments.

The standard types of hair straightening treatments that are considered to be safe are lye, no-lye, and thio whereas the Brazilian hair treatment is not safe during pregnancy.

Brazilian or keratin hair treatments contain a chemical that may get absorbed into the skin to cause cancer.

Therefore, there is a limit of formaldehyde chemical to be present in different products which should not be exceeded.

It is still better to look for some safe ideas for good looks as nothing us more important than your health.

Wearing High Heels

It us time to put your high heels away if you are pregnant as they will not let you walk comfortably. Also, your body posture changes when you are wearing heels which is not good for your back and baby’s growth.

Your pelvis becomes more flexible during pregnancy as the hormone relaxin is released. This makes childbirth easier as the tissues loosen up.

You are likely to fall if you wear heels as pregnancy makes you clumsy and dizzy at times. Swelling is another reason to avoid as the third trimester brings this symptom along with it.

Wearing Piercings

Piercings can be your favourite jewelery to wear but you will have to see if it causes discomfort during pregnancy.

Pregnancy makes your skin more sensitive and you may have to remove the piercings in case you have a caesarian. Belly button piercings and nipple piercings are the common ones to cause discomfort to you and your baby.

Painting During Pregnancy

Painting is another task you must avoid during pregnancy because of the harmful chemicals. The first trimester is crucial for your baby’s growth and it is best not to keep your baby’s health at stake.

Paint exposure is likely to cause problems later in the baby although not many studies have been done on the subject.

You should either postpone the painting task until after delivery or let someone else do it for you. You should also not keep your baby in a newly painted room as the chemical fumes can be inhaled.

Also, you should avoid scrapping and sanding during pregnancy as that will also pose you to risks. Lead based paints used earlier were very risky as inhaling lead dust can be extremely dangerous for your health.

Bleaching Body Hair In Pregnancy
There is no evidence that bleaching hair will be harmful for your baby so it can be considered safe.

Body hair may increase in pregnancy which may want you to bleach them more than before although it will get back to normal within 6 months of giving birth.

Always do a patch test on the skin before applying the product and also read the instructions carefully.

Do not leave the product on skin longer than the instructions tell you to as it may cause allergic reactions. Minimized time on the skin will do the work for yiu and save you from any adverse reactions.

Waxing in Pregnancy

Pregnancy us the time when women are more concerned for their babies while doing everything. Although there is no evidence that waxing can be unsafe for your baby, you may still be worried about having it done.

The skin becomes more sensitive and itchy as it stretches to provide room for the growing baby. This may cause irritation after waxing abd you should see for yourself whatever suits you best.
