Chinese coronavirus has forced people to remain indoors and avoid all possible public interaction to prevent the spread. The Chinese health officials are continuously struggling to get control over this deadly viral outbreak that has killed nearly 500 people till the date.
More than twenty thousand people in China are infected and it has alerted health officials to shut down the cities completely so that it is not spread to more people. Hubei province is already under a shutdown, as it is the epicenter of this coronavirus outbreak, the local authorities are trying hard to prevent its transmission.
Global health organizations have reported coronavirus even in people who were never been to China and cases where nothing from China was a suspect. Still, nearly 56 million population of Hubei is currently under a complete lockdown for the last one week under a public health emergency.
Hangzhou is a hundred and seventy kilometers away from Shanghai in the southwest, where the green fences are blocking the streets and fighter jets are circling over the head for supervision near Alibaba, the biggest company of China’s office.
Alibaba is one of the biggest exporters of valuable products that seem to be shut down. However, the delivery staff is seen moving around the building to nearby areas to deliver groceries.
Three cities from eastern Zhejiang Taizhou, Wenzhou and some parts of Ningbo are under a complete shutdown. In all these areas, the messages on the loudspeaker telling people “Please don’t go out, don’t go out, don’t go out!” is repeated. The officials have requested people to use a face mask, follow good personal hygiene, wash hands and avoid public interaction.
Similar steps are followed in other cities in Heilongjiang, a northeasternmost province of China and some cities on the east coast.
Henan is another Chinese province that shares a border with Hubei. The district Zhumadian has imposed this safety measure that only one person from a family is allowed to go out once in five days to shop the necessities. The city officials are offering cash prizes to residents for informing on Hubei people.
The virus emerged from Wuhan city of Hubei in December 2019 where it was initially thought to be pneumonia. From the seafood market of Wuhan, it has now spread to 25 countries worldwide. However, most of these international cases are getting timely treatment and some of them have even recovered and sent home. But in China, the death toll of coronavirus has increases 500 and all public celebrations of Chinese new years were canceled.
The death rate of coronavirus is recorded as 2% which is lesser than the SARS outbreak of 2002-2003. Yet these two viruses share so much in common.
The rapidly spreading virus made the World Health Organization (WHO) declare it as a global health emergency. And numerous organizations from different countries are currently working on their treatment. Meanwhile, leading airlines have suspended their functions in China and countries including the USA has banned Chinese travelers to enter into the USA.
