President Trump Claims to Have Evidence on Coronavirus Linked With Wuhan Research Lab

The U.S President claims that he has seen evidence about the origin of the novel coronavirus in a Wuhan laboratory but declined to give details. Speaking at the news conference, Donald Trump said China either could not stop the spread of COVID-19 or let it spread.

President Trump said that he is confident about the origin of a novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 that it came from the Institute of Virology in Wuhan. He said that U.S authorities were observing it very keenly. U.S researchers are going to see where the novel coronavirus comes from. He added that China could even tell us.

In response to the question asked by a reporter whether he had seen anything that gives him a high degree of confidence the Wuhan institute was the source of the novel coronavirus, he said: “Yes, I have.” When the reporter asked what gave him so much confidence about this, he denied to give specifics and said he is not allowed to share that.

The Institute of Virology in Wuhan has dismissed all the allegations and other U.S officials have also downplayed their likelihood. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said that it had ruled out the novel coronavirus being man-made in the laboratory but was still investigating the exact source of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The federal agencies said in a rare statement that they concur with the wide scientific consensus that the novel coronavirus was not man-made in a laboratory or genetically modified. The Intelligence Community will continue to rigorously examine the latest information and intelligence to see if the outbreak actually began through contact with infected wild animals or if it was due to an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan.

Geng Shuang, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said that he would like to point out that the origin of the novel coronavirus is a complex scientific issue, and it should be studied by the professionals and scientists. He added that the U.S should invest its time on better containing the virus and controlling the pandemic at home. Although the source of the novel coronavirus has yet to be identified, it is widely believed that it originated in a Wuhan seafood market, and the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said the primary source is most likely an animal.

Sky News revealed that the United Kingdom was among the countries who are investigating the origin of the novel coronavirus outbreak which has become a pandemic, including a possibility that it could be associated with the Wuhan laboratory conducting crazy research into diseases in bats. A U.S official said that it was a chance, however not the most probable chance. It is believed to be considered almost certain the novel coronavirus occurred normally and isn’t man-made.

Mr Trump declined to state whether he considers Chinese President Xi Jinping liable for what he feels is falsehood. In any case, he criticized China for neglecting to control the virus, saying this is something that could have been controlled at the original location and it could have been contained generally without any problem.

Trump later added that there are only two possibilities; they either couldn’t do it from the competence standpoint or they let the virus spread. According to him, presumably, it became out of control. He said that he was thinking to impose consequences for Chinese authorities over the novel coronavirus.

According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 61,000 Americans have died after infecting with the COVID-19. Tensions between Washington and Beijing have heightened in last weeks, with China suggesting the U.S military might have brought the novel coronavirus to China.
