Coronavirus Cases Surge To 2 Million Despite All Preventive Plans

The US is leading with the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world for some time now. Even with the surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the US, the government is adamant to ease the lockdown in all states.

A Johns Hopkins University tracker shows that the US has the highest death toll in the world with 112,000 fatalities. However, some experts believe that the number is much greater than that.

As the coronavirus cases in the US hit 2 million, some states such as New York recorded a significant drop in the number of Covid-19 patients. On the other hand, the cases surge in some states such as Arizona, California, and Texas.

Texas was one of the first states to relax the lockdown and now it is leading in the number of coronavirus cases. There are 2,153 coronavirus patients hospitalized in Texas within 3 days breaking previous records. Gov. Greg Abbott is looking forward to further relax the rules of reopening despite the surge in Covid-19 cases.

Florida also reported a record number of coronavirus patients in the last week. Almost 1,000 coronavirus cases are recorded every day since June 2 in the state. Arizona also recorded a surge in the number of cases this week with an average of 1,000 Covid-19 cases per day.

Even though the testing capacity is increased in many states, the health experts warned that this spike in cases cannot be credited to the increased number of tests.

The overall number of cases in the country is increasing every day. When one state reports stability in the number of cases, another state reports a spike in confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Every day, 20,000 to 25,000 new coronavirus cases in the US are identified, says the director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, Ashish Jha. Also, the number of fatalities is around 800 to 1,000 per day due to coronavirus.

Maryland showed a significant decrease in the number of cases with a daily count of less than 1,000 confirmed cases within the past few weeks. However, North Carolina is one of the states recording a spike in coronavirus cases with more than 1,000 cases on average every day. The previous average cases of the state recorded three weeks earlier was 517 daily coronavirus cases.

Despite the surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the US, all states decided to relax the lockdown starting from May. Some states stuck to their stay at home policy until earlier this month. The government used the cell phone data of the Americans to report that most of the US citizens returned to normalcy after an ease in lockdown.

This data shows that people are moving around more frequently as compared to before reopening the states. Hence, the spike in cases observed within the past weeks is not due to a mere increase in a testing capacity.

People are desperate to return to their normal lives after months of shutdown. Meanwhile, the health experts warned that people should continue following the social distancing rules and hygiene measures to contain the spread of the virus.

Many of the health experts expressed their concern about reopening business too soon in all the states. The ease in lockdown caused a surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the US since people returned to their everyday routine in the past few weeks.
