This research collected data from obese people over eight years. It included 552,953 participants in the mid-age group. These people lost their weight on their own without any illness. Losing this amount of weight also reduced other health conditions in these people.

The participants who lost 13 percent body weight had a 25 percent lower risk of high blood pressure. Also, these participants had a lower risk of high cholesterol levels by 22 percent. These people also reduced their osteoarthritis risk by 20 percent.

This study shows that only 13 percent of total weight loss can help reduce the risk of major diseases. Losing weight is a stringent task for obese people mostly due to their weight. However, this research suggests that they do not have to go through major transformations to improve their health.
