Important Tips for a Healthy Heart on This World Heart Day

World Heart Day is celebrated over the globe on 29th September of every year. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about a healthier lifestyle that improves the health of the heart. One of the most important ways to help you is through exercise.

Several health conditions can lead to poor heart health. This includes obesity, diabetes, blood pressure, smoking, and unhealthy diet and lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle includes adequate exercise and physical activity that help the overall being of a person.

World Heart Federation states that cardiovascular disease is the leading death cause in the world. However, exercising for at least half an hour a day can decrease the risk of heart disease. This does not have to be a strenuous or difficult workout routine. A simple physical activity such as cycling, jumping rope, jogging, running or even walking can help improve health.

According to the American Health Association (AHA), you need to do moderate-intensity workout for 150 minutes to ensure better health and a healthy heart. Also, a 90 minutes intensive workout can provide the same health benefits.

Kayla Itsines is a fitness trainer for celebrities and occasionally shares workout routines on Instagram account. Kayla recently shared an at-home workout routine that you can do on a couch easily. Since it is still unsafe to join gyms again, many people prefer to do their exercise at home.

The workout is only 12 minutes long and targets most of the body parts. The whole routine consists of 6 exercises. It includes different variations of the push-up, squats, and plank exercises. Three rounds of this workout make a complete exercise routine.

World Heart Day also educates about healthy eating habits to maintain the health of your heart. It is equally important as an exercise routine. Try to incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet instead of packaged and processed food. Eating oily food also contributes to poor health. These habits build up over time and often lead to heart failure.

Another important ingredient to incorporate into your diet is whole grains. This helps maintain the lipid level of the body and also good for gut health. Other nutritious foods include nuts, seeds, and legumes. These are important sources of protein and full of good fats and vitamins.

Apart from exercise and healthy food, an adequate amount of sleep is also necessary. On average, a person requires complete 8 hours of sleep to stay healthy. Also, it is better to get sleep at night than the day. A night of proper sleep helps relieve stress and maintain a good mood throughout the day.
