COVID Christmas Shopping Guidelines and Warnings

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported nearly 1 million new COVID-19 cases in the US within the last week. As the country has now battled with the second wave of coronavirus, the cases in all states are emerging again. It implies that the only way to safely enjoy Thanksgiving is by staying at home and celebrate it with close people only. Christmas shopping guidelines suggest not to spend time outdoors, exposing yourself to different people any of which might be infected. Large gatherings of friends and family members are not recommended this year, because of the ongoing pandemic.

Thie pandemic period is stressful not just for those who were diagnosed with the virus but also for others as the fear of any uncertain event was no less stressful. Staying at home is definitely not ideal and during holidays when you want to spend time with your loved ones, it seems unfair. But one thing that this pandemic has taught the world is to set the priorities right and in this priorities list, health comes at number one place.

Holidays are the time when everyone reconnects with people but this year, this trend will be changed. CDC advises people not to go outside for Christmas shopping or to meet friends for celebrating holidays. All the plans for this year have to be made after considering the viral spread. No one wants ill for their friends and families, which means saving them from this deadly virus is also highly desirable.

CDC also suggests that the viral spread is slow in small gatherings of people especially with members of your own household, who practically live with you or whom you see complying with the guidelines.

It has also suggested some categories of people not to be a part of any holiday gathering. It includes those who have already been exposed to the virus, has symptoms of COVID-19, or waiting for their test. Those who have been in contact with any COVID-19 patient during the last two weeks should also avoid going to the gatherings.

If there is an older adult in a household, with or without underlying medical conditions, it is not advised to take him to bigger gatherings or other people to come in close contact with him.

Everyone is stepping outside for shopping but it is necessary to read the special Christmas shopping guidelines for this year to avoid contracting the virus. Most people are completing their shopping before time because they are not sure what’s coming next. They are probably not paying attention to the fact that the future is dependent upon their today’s action. It means if people don’t follow the Christmas shopping guidelines today, the coronavirus cases are most likely to increase in the coming weeks which may end up in another prolonged lockdown.

One has to be extra careful, whether or not he belongs to the high-risk groups for contracting the virus. Many people are preferring to shop online and many brands have started their sales to facilitate these early shoppers. While shopping online lessens the risk but it doesn’t completely end it. the risk of exposure to the virus through delivery service or the package itself is still high.it is better to follow all standard care plans while shopping online for Christmas.
